Being A Good Corporate Parent by Dr Mike Lindsey

Birmingham July 7th 12.30- 3.30

Manchester August 4th 12.30-3.30

Much has been written and spoken about ‘corporate parenting’, but have you ever wondered what exactly is it? This series of workshops, facilitated by Dr Mike Lindsay, are intended to help you explore what it means to be a good ‘corporate parent’ by: (1) comparing practice; (2) looking at accepted normative standards of parenting; and, (3) hearing what looked after children recently told the Children’s Rights Director for England about what they expect from being a ‘corporate child’. The culmination of these workshops will be to develop a blueprint for what corporate parenting should look like from a children’s rights based approach. These workshops are intended to be both informative and interactive, helping Children’s Rights Officers and Advocates alike to begin to construct, along with local authorities and other providers of children’s services, a practical framework for applying children’s rights standards to corporate parenting.
